Melon seed milk

Did you know that after eating a melon instead of throwing its seeds away, you can make… milk?! And what's more, it is extremely fast! And with a wonderful fresh aroma and a very pleasant taste.

Melon seeds are a source of protein, vitamins and minerals. Skin rejuvenation, lowering blood sugar, boosting memory and heart activity, and regulating blood pressure are just some of the benefits of consuming them.

In some recipes, milk is prepared only from the seeds, that is, they are cleaned from the inside. This recipe uses the whole inside of the melon (it is a fast process), so it's important to choose a sweeter variety of melon.

To make the milk sweeter, you can sweeten it to your taste. In this case, honey is used - although it is not a vegan product, many vegans consume it. If you are not among them, replace it with another sweetener - maple syrup or agave, for example.

It is necessary to have a relatively powerful blender , as well as a strainer or cheesecloth for straining.

Under the recipe for melon milk we share a sample recipe for a delicious and refreshing banana shake with it :)

Here's how to make quick and easy homemade milk from melon seeds!

Necessary ingredients:

For melon seed milk:

  • the inside of 1 melon
  • 300 - 500 ml of water
  •  30 g (2 tablespoons) honey or other sweetener

For banana shake:

  • 200 ml of melon seed milk
  • 1 banana
  • cinnamon

Method of preparation:

For melon seed milk:

Using a spoon, carve the inside of melon and put it in a blender. Add water, about 300 - 500 ml depending on how thick you want the milk to be. Blend well. Strain the milk with a strainer or cheesecloth. If you want it to be sweeter, add honey, agave, maple syrup, or another sweetener of your choice, and blend again. Store the ready milk in the refrigerator.

For banana shake:

Add 1 well-ripened banana and cinnamon to taste to about 200 ml of melon milk. Blend and your banana shake is ready - extremely tasty and fragrant!
